Using Magnets to Mount the RC Body
Using magnets is a permanent solution to mount an RC body without making holes. It is quite technical, but following the process step by step can help to mount the body quickly. Let’s have a look at the steps in detail.
Setting Up the Mount Post
First of all, open the RC body by unscrewing it or removing the clips. To set up the magnetic body clips and a post, remove the body and keep it aside.
Most of the magnetic body clips include mount posts with the package. As the post of the RC is different from model to model, it is better to use the packaged one. Also, the post gets damaged due to excessive modification of the car base. In this situation, it is better to remove the damaged post and set up the new one.
Install the Magnetic Body Clips
Once you’re done with the mounting post, it is time to install the magnetic body clips. Put the hollow side of the clips on the post and push it gently. If the post is narrow than the body clips, we suggest you use tape to fill the empty space.
Then, use a small screwdriver to tighten the screw of the magnetic clip head. It will help the body clips to stay straight. Otherwise, the RC body will stress or break while facing an extreme collision.
After that, insert the pin into the hole of the magnetic body clips and mounting post. If you don’t insert the pin, the clip will come off while maneuvering. To insert the pin, push it with a little pressure so that the pin is set up tightly.
Mark the Magnet Head Position
After installing the magnetic body clips, you should mark the magnet head position for further setup. Detach the magnets from the body clips first. Next, place the RC body on the top of the body clips. Then, put all the magnets in the assumed position in the RC body.
Now, if these magnets are placed even closer to the body clip, the clip will attract it and correct the position. After that, turn over the RC car and mark the magnet position with a pencil.
Setting Up the Magnet Head
The last step is to set the magnet head. We suggest using basic super glue on the marked position and then inserting the magnet head into the glue. If you don’t have superglue, then use hot glue to set up these heads.
Most of the magnetic body clips include powerful neodymium magnets that don’t take much glue. Besides, you will never ever face any issue of peeling up. But, wait until the glue dries to get proper stickiness.
Finally, put the RC body on top of these magnetic clips to connect with the magnet head. See, these magnetic clips increase the height of the RC body to a certain level.
Using Velcro Tape to Mount the RC Body
Another way to mount the RC body without holes is by using Velcro tape. Now, as the Velcro comes with extreme stickiness, it can offer a strong hold no matter how heavy the RC car is!
Compared to the previous magnet installation, it is quite easy but you have to follow the process step by step to mount the body in a few minutes. Let’s scroll through these quick steps in detail.
Open Up the RC Body
First, remove the clips of the RC mount post. Clips are actually available on the front & back sides of the RC. Push these clips with gentle pressure to remove them.
If you’re modifying the RC for the first time, then you might need a little bit of pressure to remove these clips. After removing the clips, open up the RC body. Before starting working with the Velcro tape, keep the body aside.
Adjustment of Mounting Post
Once you’re done with the opening, it is time to adjust the mounting post. If the post is in bad condition, it is better to remove the damaged post and set up the new one.
Sometimes, the mounting post includes a narrow plastic plate which is not suitable to attach the Velcro. If such an issue arises, we suggest you change the plate to a wider one. Otherwise, the Velcro tape will detach while facing a crash on the track.
Install the Velcro Tape
Once you’re done with the post, let’s focus on the Velcro tape installation. It is better to use double-sided Velcro tape for easy installation. Peel the back part of the tape and then install it on the wide plastic plate.
If you don’t have a double-sided tape, use a single-sided one. First, use superglue on the wide plastic plate. Then, install the tape on the plate with a gentle push. If the post is narrower than the tape width, we suggest you use a cut of the broad paper board to fill the space.
Mark & Set the Velcro on RC Body
It’s time to set up the Velcro on the RC body. But, mark the position to get a strong adhesiveness. It is better to use a marking pen to scratch up the tape and then place the RC body on the top of the tape. As soon as you push the RC body, the inner side of the body gets marked.
After getting the mark, peel the back part of the tape and then install it on the RC body. If the tape isn’t double-sided, use superglue on the marked position and then insert the Velcro tape into the glue.
Then, wait until the glue dries to get proper stickiness. In the end, put the RC body on the base, and push with the thumb to connect the Velcro tape. These Velcro straps also increase the height of the RC body a little bit.
Warp Up
Finally, we are at the end of our detailed guide. As we tried to cover different ways of how to mount the RC body without holes, we hope this article will help you to mount RC perfectly.
Magnets are strong enough to hold the RC body even in an extreme crash but take a little time to install. On the other hand, Velcro tape is quite easy to install but the tape gets weaker with time. So, pick any of these ways right now to mount the RC body without any holes!
